Addressing Unwanted Leave Site Notifications in Sage CRM

As you are likely aware, users can access Sage CRM by opening a web browser and navigating to the dedicated web application hosted securely on a remote server. Consequently, any changes or updates made to browser versions have the potential to impact the performance of Sage CRM. It’s worth noting that a significant portion of our user base predominantly uses the Chrome browser for their CRM tasks.

Recently, several of our customers who use the Chrome browser to access their Sage CRM web application have faced an concerning problem. To be more specific, Chrome continuously displays an unexpected dialogue box, repeatedly inquiring if they want to exit the site. This issue tends to arise, especially when users attempt to switch between various tabs within the application.

We have thoroughly examined this issue on various systems and across different versions of Sage CRM. Upon conducting an investigation, we have determined that the persistent prompting problem is a result of the recent Chrome update, specifically Version 113.0.5672.64 (Official Build) (64-bit). To rectify this issue, users can choose from one of the following solutions.

Option 1

If possible, we suggest ensuring that all systems have the Chrome browser updated to its latest version. After completing the update, kindly instruct all users to clear their browser cache before trying to log in to Sage CRM again.

However, it’s worth mentioning that manually updating Chrome on every system can be a time-consuming task, especially if the browser doesn’t update automatically. Additionally, there is a specific situation where users accessing the CRM through an external URL might face the same issue if their Chrome version is not up to date. To address this issue more efficiently, please refer to the alternative Solution 2 provided below.

Option 2

To resolve this issue, users need to modify the ‘SageLoaderSpinner.js’ file located within the CRM instance. This involves the process of commenting out the ‘e.preventDefault();’ method within the script. Follow the steps below to accomplish this:

  1. Go to the CRM installation folder: ‘instance name’ \WWWRoot\js\ and create a backup of the ‘Custom’ folder.
  2. Navigate to ‘CRM instance\WWWRoot\js\custom’ and double-click to open the ‘SageLoaderSpinner.js’ file.
  3. Comment out the ‘e.preventDefault();’ method and save the file. You can refer to the screenshot below for guidance.

4. After completing the aforementioned steps, please guide all users to clear their browser cache and then log in again to Sage CRM. This will ensure that the modifications are applied smoothly.

Following the implementation of the solutions outlined above, users will no longer experience the intrusive ‘Leave Site?’ prompt, even when using Chrome version 113.0.5672.64 (Official Build) (64-bit).
